I speak wth the authority of one who confidently predicted in 2003 that Beckham would not be sold, and who later the same year stated that it was a mistake to get rid of Veron and, two years ago, that the sale of Ruud would be disastrous. (And I thought Garry Birtles was a good buy).

I confidently predict that Boy Wonder will stay.

I think he has had his head turned a bit by the knowledge that Real would like him, and Real have done their usual mischievous stuff. And anyone who has watched him play will appreciate that he enjoys tormenting and tantalising people. And he has nothing tangible to lose by making his cryptic comments, which might have the effect of bringing him more money. And he probably hasn't been reading the English newspapers in the last few weeks so may well not appreciate the hysterical hype he has stirred up.

I admit to being a bit worried that he has been under the influence of our main rivals' manager for a couple of weeks, but reckon that an hour in the stimulating company of SAF will put him right.

yeah jono, those missed pens still irk, it could have got ugly for the guy. Would his departure free up Wayne a la RVN's transfer to Madrid for Cronaldo himself?
Rooney has done all of the hard work recently and doesn't get the credit he deserves in my humble.
But this is all based around 'if', wait and see is still my approach on this one. Your destabilising point is interesting, although I am not sure it is 100% correct, yet.
Interesting to see Bebatov back in the news too...

Putting the sheer disappointment of it all to one side, I think he has to go, This is too unsettling and as we all know, nobody is bigger than the club. Fergie will try and talk him round but this is all about an out-of-control ego and that makes it impossible for him to stay. I did think maybe a deal could be done wherby we get another season out of him but, no, that's too destabilising.

So Fergie should just make sure he gets top dollar and then spends some of it on back up for Rooney and Tevez and a replacement for Gary. The Glasers, apparently, are not insisting the dosh goes to reducing the overdraft.

Also, this could be the making of Nani, Anderson et al who will now be able to flourish in his wake. And where will the goals come from? Tevez and Rooney for a start, with Hargreaves taking the free kicks and penalties (all that German training!) We can still win things post-Ronnie. 41 goals but 3 missed pens.
