Manchester United1 - 0 Spurs
After the week of abuse this result means that I can start considering leaving the house again. But we did play badly. Today United reminded me of that chick who has just hit the singles scene again after a lengthy relationship. We can’t seem to manage shots anymore and every attempt at making a pass ended up being fumbled badly. This weeks traning sessions will hopefully include the following things.
- An introduction meeting for Messrs. Carrick, Hargreaves and Scholes.
- with a bit of luck a conversation between the three of them that ends with them agreeing not to spend 90 minutes each week playing on the same blade of grass.
- Some shooting practice
You wonder if maybe after the week Paul Robinson has just had if some bright spark might have thought it worth a punt to test him with a few crosses. United managed precisely zero testing crosses all match from where I was sitting. Instead of forcing errors from a confidence shorn goalie United, via the medium of Rio Ferdinand, managed to make two defensive errors that howled so badly the moors will be quiet at night for weeks. In short we just didn’t look like a team today, but they are going to need to and soon, because Liverpool are rising.
